This charming farmhouse is just a short walk from Frigiliana where you will find plenty of restaurants, tapas bars, and family-run shops. Nevertheless, its location is very quiet, set amidst olive and avocado trees and enjoying full privacy. Inside, this cortijo has been built in the Andalucian style: thick outside walls, beamed ceilings and decorated in ochre sienna and sky blue colours—modern day comfort… with traditional rustic charm.

Situated near the historic village of Frigiliana, this is a beautiful 3-bedroom traditional cottage surrounded by lush avocado orchards, which gives this lovely place a Hansel and Gretel feel. The cottage is in a secluded location and yet only a 5-minute walk from the village making it the ideal location for those who want a country retreat but with easy access to all the village amenities.
Set in its own grounds, this villa offers you pleasant summer evenings eating al fresco next to the private pool with views to Frigiliana. A large shaded verandah with outdoor furniture in the front of the house provides an area for comfortable al fresco dining. Alongside the house, there is a small summer kitchen with a built-in BBQ and a second dining area with elegant teak furniture.
The cottage has a large pool (4x7.5 m long and 1x1.5 m deep) with a lawn area and a pretty sun terrace—sun loungers are provided for sun bathing and relaxing. The accommodation is also ideally located for exploring the impressive Moorish heritage of the Andalucian cities of Granada, Sevilla and Cordoba, amongst others. The town of Nerja and its beaches can be reached in 10 minutes by car.

The house dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It served as a stable for the mules needed to work in the countryside. The current owners, Jose Manuel and Pilar, inherited it and fully renovated it in 2006 with great care in the true Andalucian tradition. The thick walls, beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, and Spanish tiles create a delightful ambience. On the ground floor you will find an open plan living room with a large sofa, wood-burning stove and satellite-TV. The kitchen is small but well equipped with a 4-ring vitro hob, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer and microwave. The washing machine is set outside. There is a double bedroom on this floor and a shower room with WC and basin.
On the second floor there are two romantic twin bedrooms with wooden ceilings and plenty of wardrobe space. The family bathroom on this floor is equipped with whirlpool bath, WC, and wash basin.

Ten minutes walk to Frigiliana, via a somewhat adventurous country trail.
Don't turn around when you drive to the villa for the first time. It takes a bit to get here by car, but it's well worth the journey! Once you are here, the owner will show you the way to Frigiliana across the valley, only a ten minute walk. The views and tranquility are exceptional, whilst inside the villa combines comfortable furnishings with a tasteful decoration. It's one of those places where you feel at home away from home.
Location and outside area
This newly built villa is positioned on a hillside opposite the white village of Frigiliana and surrounded by avocado trees, enjoying a very quiet location. The outside area offers a built-in BBQ and a good size pool (7x4 m) up a few Roman steps. There is plenty of space for sunbathing while enjoying the stunning views over the countryside and the village. Sun loungers are provided. Adjacent to the living room is another terrace for those looking for shade, with dining amenities and views. The villa is accessed by a concrete path that leads down from the Frigiliana – Torrox road, with a few steep sections. Although there aren't many curves, we recommend you drive a car with at least a 1.4 L motor.
Frigiliana (3.5 km) is approx. a 5 minute drive; however, if you prefer giving your car a holiday, there is a countryside trail to the village, only a 10 minute walk away (good shoes are needed as this walk has some difficulties - the trail is not recommended during night time because there are no lights along the path). The famous beaches of nearby Nerja are just 10 km away, a 15 minute drive.
Inside and lay-out
The comfortable and cosy open plan living/dining/kitchen area with views to Frigiliana has two French doors opening onto a covered terrace. The living room has a sofa for 4 persons, open fireplace, a rocking chair, and is provided with satellite TV and music equipment. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, ceramic hob with 4 rings, microwave, oven and dishwasher. The bedrooms (1 double, 2 twins) are decorated in a soothing style with colourful textile bedcovers and paintings. There is a full bathroom with an over bath shower, basin, and WC, and a shower room with basin and WC. A wood-burning stove and mobile electric heaters are available for the cooler days in off-season. WIFI internet connection provided!

A handrail for the initial steep climb from the villa to the road and maybe a small bench halfway up the road. We took my parents dad is 90 mum 85 so it was difficult for them to leave the villa.

The wood burning stove kept it cosy in the evenings. The outside spaces are plentiful for dining and lounging, or just having a coffee in the mornings listening to the constant birdsong. The garden is well kept with avocado, lemon and banana trees. Jose is the delightful owner. Whilst speaking virtually no English, we managed to get by and he was very helpful and responsive. The situation couldn’t be better, although the drive down the road from town is initially a little terrifying, being very steep. But the house is quiet, private and only 5 minutes walk to lovely Frigiliana, which even in January was busy with plenty of bars and restaurants open. I suspect I will be back.

If I may make 2 constructive comments, The final drive is very steep, so ensure any car used has good ground clearance as you start your descent. Our car bottomed out and needed rocks to raise it clear. Mosquito’s were a real problem here for all our family, probably due to the truly superb vegetation and high temps - you may be fine at other times of the year. Fans for the rooms were kindly provided and there is aircon in the main living area, but only 2 of the 3 fans were anywhere near effective. I would suggest at least one better fan or aircon to be ideal. My comments are means to help give the peak experience out of what is a superb property and location that is full of character and charm and is very clean. Banana, Lemon and Avocado Trees in garden - a credit to you Jose. Thank you from the Latham family.

Fabulous views from accommodation. Wonderful walks from the very pretty village - no driving necessary! We felt perfectly relaxed and will come back next year. Highly recommended if you want a peaceful holiday in a traditional Spanish dwelling.

The house and pool were in a great location to enjoy Frigiliana. The heat was pretty intense but the shade of the avocado trees and breeze along the valley was lovely. There is one air conditioner downstairs. It does sit down a steep hill and drive ssee more

We were there during the San Antonio festival which would have been very loud but the cottage is far enough away not to be effected. The owner is friendly and helpful.

This villa, compared to every other villa in Frigiliana, is by far the most conveniently located. You have the best of both worlds : a beautiful, quiet, country feel to life at the villa ( in the midst of an avocado orchard), and yet, after a quick walk up the road, you are right in town. In town there are friendly green grocers, bread shops, fishmongers and butchers. Over in ""new town” there is a well stocked little grocery store. We were in the villa in January and February, and the nights can get cool. There are several space heaters provided, which kept us comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with all the pots and pans etc. that you will need. Manuel kindly had a fruit bowl, some wine and his own amazing olive oil waiting for us on the kitchen table. Despite a language barrier, we found Manuel to be very attentive and helpful. We had a few minor issues that were resolved instantly.

Property is in sun from about 9.30-8 pm outside space is excellent .
Only issues are no mirrors in bedroom ,only two heaters to keep house warm on cold evenings and cousee more

Wir haben die drei Wochen in dem sehr schönen Ferienhaus und besonders dem Garten mit Pool sehr genossen! All unsere Wünsche wurden erfüllt. Die Nähe zu Frigiliana ist perfekt und trotzdem kann man die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit im Grundstück erleben.see more

Wij hadden prachtig weer tijdens ons verblijf in dit heerlijke huis en konden iedere ochtend buiten ontbijten. We vonden dat het geheel erg mooi is gerestaureerd. Buiten zijn er diverse zitjes gemaakt, waarvan één met uitzicht tot aan zee. De inrichting van het huis vonden we erg aangenaam en gezellig, net als de slaapkamers. Hier is met aandacht aan gewerkt. 's Avonds hebben we hout gestookt in de kachel. De tuin heeft veel bomen en vogels die in februari al erg actief waren. We hebben heerlijk gewandeld en een aantal bergdorpen bezocht. Het nabij gelegen natuurgebied is adembenemend mooi. Toch was er één minpuntje. We weten dat er in het zuiden vaak honden blaffen, maar de hond van de buren wist niet van stoppen. Toen we dit hadden laten weten hebben de buren hier rekening mee gehouden en was het blaffen een stuk minder. Eigenaar José hebben we drie keer ontmoet en was de vriendelijkheid zelve.

Très agréable séjour dans cette maison de charme. Le site est extraordinaire et nous avons apprécié la piscine et le calme de ce grand jardin tropical. Le village est très pittoresque et la mer à proximité. Une très bonne adresse !

Une maison très agréable, propre avec tous les équipements nécessaires pour passer de bonnes vacances: piscine, terrasses agréables, maison au calme. Le propriétaire est quelqu'un de simple, convivial, charmant et serviable.Celui-ci nous a donné des conseils sur ce qu'il fallait voir ou faire soit dans le village soit aux alentours. Le village de Frigiliana est vraiment magnifique, très typique, de belles ruelles en hauteur dominant le village; de bons restaurants ou bars avec des tarifs très intéressants;en bref village a faire et a voir absolument. Nous garderons un merveilleux souvenir de notre séjour à Frigiliana.

Wij waren zeer tevreden met het huisje, het is binnen wat kleiner dan we in Nederland zijn gewend, maar je leeft toch voornamelijk buiten. Heerlijk zwembad, prachtig uitzicht, netjes onderhouden. De verhuurder was ook erg aardig. In vijf minuten ben je in het leuke dorpje Frigiliana en er zit aan begin van de weg een leuk café-restaurant waarvan wij de wifi code kregen. Eerste avond ondanks dat we laat aankwamen nog heerlijk uitgebreid kunnen eten. Een aanrader!

Een heerlijk karakteristiek huisje, volledig prive met fijn zwembad en ruime tuin en dichtbij het dorp waar je fijn kunt wandelen , uit eten. Vervolgens ideaal voor uitstapjes naar Malaga, Granada.

We zijn enorm tevreden met ons verblijf in dit charmante huisje. Het huis bevindt zich op enkele minuten stappen van de gezellige straatjes van Frigiliana, waar je kleine kruidenierszaken vindt die je helpen met alles wat je nodig hebt. We werden metsee more
We zijn enorm tevreden met ons verblijf in dit charmante huisje. Het huis bevindt zich op enkele minuten stappen van de gezellige straatjes van Frigiliana, waar je kleine kruidenierszaken vindt die je helpen met alles wat je nodig hebt. We werden met open armen ontvangen door de fantastische eigenaars van dit huis. Jammer dat ze geen engels spreken, want dit maakte de communicatie moeilijk. Het is een proper huis met een zeer grote mooie en verzorgde tuin met als blikvanger het zwembad. We waagden ons aan een duikje, ondanks dat het iets te koud was in december. 900 m verder is er een bushalte waar je de bus kan nemen naar Nerja, daar zijn grotere supermarkten en winkels. We raden ook aan om ""het balkon van Europa"" te bezoeken. Onze tweede ervaring met Casitas select en alweer een voltreffer. Dank jullie wel!
